Creating this ring for G & E was such an exciting challenge. Their inspiration images included Renaissance sculpture, the Pacific Ocean and her mother’s own engagement ring, so it was a joy to find a way to bring so many different ideas together in a wearable engagement ring with a modern feel.
After numerous sketches, we settled on this wave design, which has the feeling of carved marble while also giving a subtle nod to the movement of the ocean.
I particularly love the combination of metals. The gorgeous elongated oval teal sapphire is set in yellow gold, which brings out such a beautiful warmth in the stone, while the coolness of the platinum band works so well with the crisp, engraved lines of the waves.
We’ve never made anything quite like this before, and I was so thrilled with how it turned out. Thank you to G & E for trusting us with such a special piece - especially given the distance between us, with G & E all the way over in California! Congrats to you both and your recent engagement!
