Welcome to the year of the Snake...
I’ll be honest, it's purely coincidental that we’ve been working on a belter of a snake ring just in time for the Lunar New Year. It feels serendipitous so lets just roll with it…
First and foremost - a massive thank you to my clients who came to us with their bold ideas for an alternative engagement ring. We love a challenge, and this red garnet and black diamond snake ring was truly a labour or love. It took us a wee while to perfect, but it was so worth the effort.
We’ve never made anything quite like this ring before and we’ve learnt a lot along the way. After I created the initial sketches for the design, we spent a lot of time in the CAD stage, tweaking and fine tuning all the little details and unseen elements which make this bespoke engagement ring so unique.
The main gemstone is a gorgeous deep red garnet (set upside down on purpose) with black diamonds along the body of the snake. Each diamond was individually drilled and set by hand (black diamonds are generally not so well calibrated as white diamonds) and we spent a lot of time on the snakes face; getting her personality just right!
The snake was black rhodium-plated for a lovely tactile feel, but we kept the gold on the setting to add a touch of warmth and contrast to the overall design. Hats off to Innes my Master Jeweller, I'm so proud of what he's helped me create. He truly is one of the best in the business.
We're thrilled with how the final piece turned out - it feels refined yet robust and for me it has the essence of fine jewellery while embracing an unapologetic alternative edge.
Thanks to my amazing clients for trusting us to make your vision into reality. My warmest congratulations to you both!
